Comma Outside in All?

Per BrE rules...

I say the commas go outside as exampled in every sentence below. Good to all?

1. The signs "Beware of Dog", "Violators Will Be Prosecuted", and "Swim at Your Own Risk" were conspicuously posted.

2. The sentences "It is what it is", "The sky is the limit", and "Do not proceed" were among my least favorites.

3. The proverbs " Discretion is the better part of valor", "A stitch in time saves nine", and "Familiarity breeds contempt" were among my favorite sayings.

4. "These conventions are designed to give your essays a pleasing and well-designed appearance", the tutor said to the students.

Thank you.
