comma or not somewhere in this sentence?

The move by giant pharma Pfizer to cut its workforce was unsurprising.

I read this same sentence (or one very similar) and was also surprised. It's awkward, but I don't think a comma is necessary. Why the author would refer to Pfizer as "giant pharma Pfizer" is odd.
