comma needed or not

Hallo experts... In the sentence:

"Despite various angles which B. takes in his analysis of the photographic shock and the related aesthetic effects in play, a quest for those conditions under which a picture succeeds to engage the viewer beyond its intended, coded, calculated, and constructed impact seems to underlie them all."

do I need a comma before seems?
