Comma needed?

Is the comma in brackets correct? Why or why not?

But if given the strict time restraint of one year in which to solely focus on the completion of a novel, I have confidence that I could break my undesirable inclination towards procrastination, and produce something that could positively impact somebody’s life, much like how J.R.R. No, there should be no comma because one could also say that 'The Hobbit' is an epic masterpiece.
