Hi. Would oyu use a comma here? If so, why? I would say what follows the conjunction "but" is important to understanding the correct meaning (grasping the content) of the sentence.
He got an "A" on the test, but not everyone else.
He got an "A" on the test, but not everyone else in the class.
What is the different from this? In th e above, what follows the conjunction doesn't look to be a (complete) sentence.
He got an "A" on all tests but the history test.
