Comma before is

This is one of my biggest pet peeves but so many people seem to do it so I'm trying to figure out if for some reason I just didn't get the memo on this grammar rule. Is the comma in this sentence correct, or should it not be there at all??
"My biggest pet peeve, is when people misuse commas."
Or (and this is a direct example from a rando twitter account):
"Sometimes the person you want the most, is the person you're best without."
Please help so I can finally figure out if I'm right or wrong

You may rest assured that those commas are wrong. It’s incorrect to use a comma between a subject and a predicate.
