Comma before and after 'for example' and 'such as'

These actions are more intricate, for example, using a pencil to write or using a knife and fork to eat.

These skills exercise the smaller muscles such as those in the hands, writs, fingers, toes, and lips.

Where do I need a comma in these two sentences? I think the grammar correct in the first sentence but I'm unsure about the second. Does 'such as' require commas before and after it?
