Comma before "And"

I'm having some problems with commas before "And"

Example:

"They numbed me up with all the pills the gave me, and they gave me headaches with all the questions they asked."

Should the comma come before the and? Help? Thanks.

Doctanian They numbed me up with all the pills the gave me, and they gave me headaches with all the questions they asked. OK. You put a comma if another subject is coming up.

  • Doctanian They numbed me up with all the pills the gave me, and they gave me headaches with all the questions they asked.
  • OK.
  • You put a comma if another subject is coming up.
  • You don't put a comma if the subject is carried over from the preceding clause.
  • They numbed me up , and they asked a lot of questions.
