Comma and which

1. The attached file is a price list for Acme which was sent to them in April....

Here, since 'which' is price list not Acme, do I need to use a comma like below?

2. The attached file is a price list for Acme, which was sent to them in April....

Or, #1 is also o.k.?

Hi Mariott, and welcome to the forums. Is there only one price list? If so, the information about when it was sent is not essential, and you should use a comma and the word which .

  • Are there many lists, and you need to specificy that you are referring to the one sent in April (versus January or June)?
  • If so, then do NOT omit the comma (and I would prefer using the word "that" instead of "which").
