comma and one more

0 Hi,02br
00Is it a rule that a comma must be placed whenever two independent clauses are connected by a conjunction, regardless whether two (or possibly more) clauses are related very closely in content and thus possibly no pause would facilitate the understanding? Can you thnk of one case where a comma might not be necessary for that reason? 02br

00He went into the store (comma??) and he searched for the item his mother wanted him to get.02br
00He pushed the door open (comma??) and the person who was standing outside was his cousin. 02br

00One more question:02br
00Should I say 'Saturday' or 'Saturdays'? Makes no difference?02br
00Do you usually play tennis on Saturday? Yes, I usually play tennis on Saturday. 0-
