Comma after the word "is"

Hi everyone,

I hope all is well. I have a quick question to ask.

Do we put a comma after the "is" for these sentences?

But the most important thing is, our son taught us a lesson that day.

Or

But the most important thing is our son taught us a lesson that day.

The fact of the matter is, he’s still a rookie.

Or

The fact of the matter is he’s still a rookie.

Thank you for your help Emotion: smile

Really great and intriguing question! Although native speakers, when speaking, may pause where your commas are inserted, I do not believe the commas are absolutely necessary. Therefore, I would recommend writing these two sentences without commas.
