Comma after "But"

In this instance, am I right in using a comma after "stands"?

Maybe I will change my mind one day, but as it stands, I do not want to bring a child into the world, place them under the care of adults, and be powerless to protect them.

This type of question has come up several times before, and I think that different people have different views. I personally do not much like the above punctuation style because I feel it makes "but as it stands" appear parenthetical. I would prefer either another comma after "but", or, if that is felt too fussy, no comma after "stands".
