Do I always need to use a comma after no, oh, ah etc. or are there exceptions?

Is it considered wrong if I don’t or is it just a recommendation?

If you mean an introductory word at the beginning of a sentence, normally yes, but there are gray areas. Look at

"Oh, dear, you shouldn't have." vs. "Oh dear, I've sat on my glasses."

You also need one before "etc." That one is mandatory. You should also have o
