Coming

My friend and I are both meeting in New York next week.

He and I are both currently in Los Angeles and texts me:

"You're coming to New York!? I'm so glad!"

Shouldn't it be:

"You're going to New York!? I'm so glad!"

Please choose the correct answer for me.

Thanks.
