Need to know is it always necessary to put a comer after writing first or second and so on

Example; Firstly video films are more popular then ever. Secondly other entertainment formats are available.
Is it always nescosery to use comers after first and second and so on
Is it wrong to write go for a date ie cinema is a fine place to go for a date, or should it be go on a date
