come/come around for dinner

Hello,
Wouldn't "come" sound better in : "My friend and his wife are coming for dinner tonight. Cook something nice, please." if his friend lived in another town/city/village? I think "around or over" could be used if they lived nearby. What do you think?

Thank you

It sounds more natural for me, but others may prefer the more informal "come over" or "come around". Because it's dinner, the occasion seems more formal and this suits "come", in my view. Kind regards, Michael
