Come what may,...

Hello,

I have seen the sentence:" Come what may, she will not give up."

Do any one know the original sentence of the front part.

Thx a lot.

is a phrase or an idiom (which i am not sure) that expresses whatever obstacles that come. It is not a hanging sentence, if this is what you thought.

It is just an older, rather ossified form of 'whatever may come'.

Come what may,...
Do what you will,...
Be that as it may,...
Try as I might,...
etc
