Dear Teachers,

1. - Has Alan shown up yet?

- Nope. I guess something might have come up.

- What does "come up" mean here?

2. I really don't know how to break this to you, but it's eating me alive.

- What do "break this to you" and "eat me alive" mean here?

3. What's the difference between "are you coming with us?" and "are you going with us?"?
