Come to vs recover consciousness

Are there any differences between "I came to after the operation" and "I recovered consciousness after the operation"? Thanks in advance!

Top answer

' I came to ' is more colloquial. But I usually hear it in cases where the loss of consciousness is accidental, eg I fell and hit my head. I usually say and hear ' I woke up after the operation'.
