Come to the table

Hi,

What would be the idiomatic way of saying the following to a child?

- Wash your hands before you come to the table.

I'm not sure about the "come to the table" part. I've translated it literally from Italian, but it doesn't sound terribly idiomatic. Maybe "before you sit down".
What did your parents use to say?

I have no problem with "come to the table."

I think this would be clearer: ... before you sit down to eat.
