Come over

I read a book and the moment was situated in a Tango world championship semifinal as below:

The thought vanished as quickly as it had appeared when the announcer came over the loudspeaker and the crowd erupted to match him.

what doest it mean by "came over"?

I just don't understand when it says "the announcer came over the loudspeaker".

Thanks in advance,
