Grammar

come or comes?

Please have a look at this sentence I found in my Economics textbook...I didn't know but were Economics textbooks always filled with countless grammatical errors? My professor pointed a few out just today...-_-;;;

'For the domestic industries, $9.56 trillion, or 88% of national income, comes from the private sector, and $1.30 trillion, or 12% comes from government.'

I didn't feel right with this sentence so I changed it to this...tell me which one is correct. The words and letters in parentheses are the ones I took out and emboldened/underlined words the ones I added.

'For (the) domestic industries, $9.56 trillion, or 88% of national income, come(s) from the private sector, and $1.30 trillion, or 12% come(s) from the government.'

Which one is correct? Please tell me why as well. Thank you ^^
