Come off

Hello,

I'm wondering if there is another phrasal verb (or an idiom) which would fit this context.

"He's come off the tablets because they were making him dizzy"
"It wasn't until I tried to come off the pills that I realized I was addicted."

Can you please help me with it?

Thanks Emotion: smile

I've done my research in Google and found also "wean off".
Is it common?

It's not the same.
Here is how to use ''wean'.

The doctor weaned the patient off the pills.
This means the doctor gradually reduced the patient's dosage to zero.
