'Come in (at) second'

Korea had lower maternal and infant mortality rates than Japan and the United States, which came in at 32nd and 33rd, respectively.

This is a sentence I got in a news article and I was wondering if we need at in the sentence because I usually have seen phrases like come in second, come in 2nd, etc, or is there a meaning difference between come in at second and come in second?

What do you native English speakers think? Thank you so much as usual in advance!

'No' means that you don't need it. How could I have made myself more clear?
