Is it correct to say I came first in writing a 1000-word essay , as if i were competing against someone ? I know you can say '' come first in a race '', but how about if I replace the noun with a verb ending with -ing ?
Thank you!
Top answer
To me, come in first in a race sounds more natural. I don't see why the -ing form of a verb can't be used.
