COME DOWN / GO DOWN

Why is it not possible to use 'come down' for the following situation? I would use 'go down' when referring to a decrease in the level of something. However, as per definition, 'come down' should still make sense.

Teacher: What's bothering you, Miyo?

Student: I worry that my motivation might come down if I can't take your class.

For idiomatic reason, I would suggest : diminish. You may use come down to describe someone having a fever. His temperature is coming down.
