come?

"I rode backward and forward, waiting for the the Driffields, and presently saw them come."

In the above sentence, why didn't the writer use "coming" instead of "come"?

you have to kow the difference between
see someone do... and see someone doing...
hear someone do... and hear someone doing...
etc.

The difference is simple. This is an example with the verb "to see":
I saw them cross the road ---> I saw them. They crossed the road.
I saw them crossing the road ---> I saw
