Hi, I have two questions regarding the following extract: ' "The physics of fluids in micro-gravity is not completely understood and in space fluids can be mixed combined almost regardless of their relative weights (unlike on Earth . Researchers also want to study the combination of fluids that would not mix well on Earth." 1. What is the exact meaning of 'combination'? I looked it up and came to understand that it could have two meanings in this context, but I am not sure which one is meant by the writer. One meaning is a 'group, or collection' another meaning is the 'act of mixing or uniting'. 2. Is using 'would' appropriate? Should it not be 'won't'?
Thanks
Top answer
" the combination" implies the latter. "would" implies a hypothetical like "would not mix well (if you tried to mix them)".
