Colors

When you answer the question "What colors do you think look good on you?"

, is it necessary to add "s" to the color words , or "s" is optional? What's the difference between "red" and "reds" when you answer this question?

I heard people say "Blues and purples, some greens, maybe yellows or orange, but not red or brown"
"Violets, blues, browns....cooler colors. Bright reds and I do not get along!"
"Black and only black. That is the only color I will wear... except for the occasional jeans."

I'm confused.

Thanks a LOT!

There are many different shades of red, blue, etc.
You might say of a certain painter (artist), "His blues are exquisite!"

Hmmm, I misunderstood you.
If you ask, "What colors?" the answer would be:
Black and lavender
Reds
Green, yellow and orange

Purple, as a single color, would be an unnatural answer - without some reframing of the question.

Sorry. I couldn't clear the dang underscore, so I wrote something out of place, intending to move it. But I timed out. The post is not in logical order.
