Colored impurities

I'm unable to understand "colored" in colored impurities

The activated charcoal is added to remove the colored impurities. This crude mixture likely still contains a little bit of water, so I added some molecular sieves to try to trap some out.

It seems to me that the only thing it can be is "non-transparent".
