Colon and semi-colon use in following sentence

I'm translating a longish sentence from German to English and would like to know how best to punctuate it.
With a colon and semi-colons?

If so, any help would be appreciated as colons and semi colons are not my forté...
If not alternative suggestions would be welcome.

The sentence goes as follows:

Over there lies the little old town with: its narrow, crooked and gabled streets; its Gothic churches and fountains; its bustling, robust and simple inhabitants; and the great, gray old patrician house in which I grew up.

(Is only really the punctuation I need help with, don't worry about the content too much. Thanks)

I would remove the colon but otherwise it seems fine to me.

Hi,

Yes, no colon.

And I would replace the semi-colons with commas, as the sentence is easy to understand. A good rule of thumb is to use the simplest punctuation that you can.
