Collocation of prepositions :S

0As a Chinese speaker, I find collocations of prepositions are really an annoying thing. whenever I speak or write, i have to attach so much attention to them.for example, i hesite on: consent on/at, approval for/on, default on/at, and so on and so forth. could someone give some tips to help me tackle this problem more efficiently 050010id7

0That should help some, but keep in mind, Vincent, that the basic problem is that most of the English noun/verb + preposition collocations are idiomatic. 02br

00I don't think there's any way around learning them all individually, although making lists-- a page for the 'on' collocations, a page for the 'at' collocations, etc.-- should be helpful. 02br

0 Those idiomatic ones are easier to deal with since a dictionary would solve the problem probably. actually those falling out of that catogery are getting on my nerve. for example, i hesite on telling "the judgement for/on this case", "a proposal on/about/for settlement of the dispute". so could you kindly share with me ur views in this regard. 02br
