Collins Cobuild Advanced Learners Dictionary
The Collins Cobuild Advanced Learners Dictionary is a very user-friendly dictionary. It has a special way of giving meanings. Instead of abstractly defining words it places the word or expression in a situation and gives out the meaning. For example see the definition for the verb sleep;When you sleep, you rest with your eyes closed and your mind and body inactive.
This is not possible in all cases.
What I would like to know is how a native user will look at this sort of a definition. Does anyone know any other dictionary using this method to define words?
