An analysis between ‘'Hunters in the snow'' and ‘' The Most Dangerous Game''
Some Stories are written to inform, to entertain and many more other reasons. In my discussion I analyze why ‘'Hunters in the snow'', is an example of literary fiction and ‘' Most dangerous Game'', an example of commercial fiction. Literary fiction focuses more on providing a complex, lasting aesthetic and intellectual pleasure rather than a simple, escapist diversion; its object is to offer pleasure plus understanding, whereas commercial fiction, the kind intended solely to entertain.

While ‘'Hunters in the snow'' appears to be entertaining it is not commercial fiction. The three main characters Tub, Frank, and Kenny are best friends but they never get along and never look out for each other. As they get ready to go hunting in the woods, Tub had trouble getting through the fences. As the author states, ‘'Frank and Kenny could have helped him; they could have lifted up on the top wire and stepped on the bottom wire, but they didn't.'' Tub, the one who is always being mocked needs help getting under the fences. It's cold and windy, they're all supposed to be friends, but none of them tried to help Tub. These are real life situations that people can relate to. These are the kind of real life situations that make ‘'hunters in the snow'' a literary story.

On the way to the hospital Kenny asked Frank, "Why are we stopping, Frank?" They stopped at a bar to get warmed up and eat. Back in the woods Tub shot Kenny, he was seriously wounded. Instead of getting Kenny to the nearest hospital he's thrown into the truck and left to suffer in the cold. Kenny's situation is definitely not entertaining. The author is showing how your friends could turn their back on you the time you need them most.

Throughout the story the characters change. Tub and Frank reveal their secrets with each other for the first time when they stopped at a roadhouse. They both share something in common. Frank is in love with a 15-year-old babysitter. Tub admits he just ‘'shovel it all in'' the food. Because of what other people will say about them, they're not able to live a normal life and be themselves. In the real world many people have to deal with the same issues. Frank and Tub lives a double life. Frank thinks there's nothing wrong with being in love with a 15-year-old .All the challenges the characters go through relates to the definition of literary fiction. Most of the events in this story can relate to your own personal life.

Literary fiction stories often address more serious issues. ‘'Most Dangerous Game'' is not literary fiction. The mood makes the story unbelievable and none of the main characters are convincible. Details like, ‘'Ship-Trap Island'' makes the reader curious and foreshadows danger.

This story is straightforward. Lots of action, two humans hunting each other on an island entertains the reader. Literary stories are more challenging. If a person falls off a yatch in the middle of the ocean, whether it's night or day most likely they will drown.
The story ‘'Most Dangerous Game'' is an entertaining one, it doesn't challenge the reader much therefore, its commercial fiction. ‘'Hunters in the snow'' on the other hand wasn't simple, its more challenging, it leaves its audience with something more to think about which makes it literary fiction.

Thanks in advance
