The youngish (twenty-something) supporters of Howard Dean, possible Democratic candidate for US President, now have a name.

James Taranto (OpinionJournal) today referred to them as *Deanie Babies.*
Now why didn't I think of that?

I was going to suggest that Mr. Riggs is no longer twenty-something, so "Deanie Baby" is not really an appropriate name for him even if he is so lacking in discernment and acumen as to be in the Dean camp.

I wasn't calling you on it. I was trying diffidently to ask about it.

I often see the syntagm and never know what think about it. I distribute a monthly newsletter, for example, whose editor labels it "Member's News". It always makes me uncomfortable but I assume that she knows what she's doing.
