According to dictionary.com we have: partridge-singular and collective, partridges-plural The same thing for grouse and quail. But we have only: pheasant-singular; pheasants-plural The same thing for francolin and capercaillie.
Similarly, we have: deer--singular, plural and collective bear-singular and coillective; bears-plural yak--singular; yaks-plural (no collective)
There are many others too, and sometimes you get different answers from different dictionaries. How does one keep track?
