For what it is worth, this is how I see this sentence. It is not a well formed mutilple choice question.

AIDS is commonly recoginzed as an incurable disease. So "The disease AIDS spreads very fast " just doesn't sound good at all. Perhaps, here are a couple of possible related variances:
Diseases related to AIDS spread very fast /( quickly)
AIDS is a disease that spreads very fast.

c) or we cannot prevent it.

d) though we cannot cure it.

" but we can check it" as in answer B does not mean "control" standing alone. Perhaps, the closest reference may be " we can keep it in check.." to mean "keeping it under control". So"....check it ...." here merely means " we can take a look at it " to me.
