The visitors means the visiting team as opposed to the home team (whose ground the match is being played at).

The visitors means "the guest team" (the Reds). Let's say the game took place in New York, opposing New York to the Reds (the visitors). Luis Garcia belongs to the Reds. After 30 minutes he got one point (scored) for his team. Then just before the break S. G. (also from the Reds) scores another point (so they have 2, now): he intercepted the ball from X. A. and sent it into the net which was empty

Hi guys,

A small comment about 'slot in'.

If part A slots into part B, it means it fits very precisely.

He 'slotted the ball into the net' suggests he did it very precisely, it wasn't just a wild, lucky kick.

Best wishes, Clive
