Collateral effect

Hi,

When you make one mistake in your calculations, it ripples through the rest and you can never get the right answer.

Can I use the expression ‘collateral effect’ or is it not appropriate?

Let’s say that you’re solving an equation, but after one mistake the whole thing falls apart. It therefore has a collateral effect on the rest of the equation.

I am just curious. Emotion: smile

Ann225 Can I use the expression ‘collateral effect’ Yes. That's OK. I suppose I would say "has (negative) consequences", but "has a collateral effect" is good, too.

  • "collateral" doesn't imply "negative", though, but I think you know that.
