Collaboration & cooperation

Hi guys.

This is about these two words, collaboration and cooperation.

I would like to know which one to use in this situation:

Some customers meet some problems when using our products and they send me e-mails to ask for solutions. And to solve the problems, I need to first know some detailed information. So I reply them and ask some details.

In the end of the e-mail, I would like to say "Thank you for your collaboration/cooperation". So here, I should use collaboration or cooperation?

Thank anyone who gives attention to this. Thank you.

" The only problem I see with your response is that while the cooperation is anticipated, it is not yet a reality. " There's nothing wrong with "collaboration," but "cooperation" is much more common in this situation. Best wishes, - A.

Hi, erebreak,

I would use "cooperation."

The only problem I see with your response is that while the cooperation is anticipated, it is not yet a reality.

Sometimes we say, "Thanking you in advance for your cooperation/help."

There's nothing wrong with "collaboration," but "cooperation" is much more common in this situation.

Best wishes, - A.

The difference is that the parties usually have equal footing or equal standing in a collaboration, but in the situation you describe, you are the one who is soliciting the cooperation, and the one who will ultimately provide the solution.
