We use 'get' not 'turn'. 'Turn' is for the weather.

Finish your food before it gets cold.
The weather's going to turn cold next week.

Thanks, MM.

Are these set expressions? I mean, technically speaking, the food won't get cold; it will only cool down -- or get cool. Can we use these?

Finish your food before it gets cool/cools down.
Finish your juice before it becomes hot.

Thanks again for your time and effort.

I wouldn't use that term; I would call them standard 'native choices'

Those simply do not sound natural to me; there is nothing wrong with the grammar of course.
