How do I know if a word is a cohesive device?
Are since/where/if/when/which/how/also cohesive devices?

Maybe they mean conjunctions (coordinating, subordinating, correlative) and conjunctive adverbs. I suppose it could also include some punctuation marks, semicolon, colon and em-dash.
