Can anyone explain me please the difference between these two words (Coherence and Cohesion)!?
I know they are different but I could not understand their differences.

Hi I think that, in modern English, it is the difference between a physical property and a mental property. In both cases, it means the ability to stick things together.. - Cyanoacrylate is "superglue" - it has an amazing power of cohesion [= to stick things together] - I tried to understand him but he was drunk - his words had no coherence [= he couldn't stick words or ideas together] I'd say that is the main difference Regards, Dave

Hi

Yes, I would go with that. I was only trying to give one significant difference.

If I wanted to press the point, I'd say..

- The lack of cohesion within the party..

[= the people in the party weren't sticking together..]

- The lack of coherence within the party..

[= they didn't have coherent ideas to present to the electorate: the kinds

To me, coherence more often suggests intelligibility. Things that lack coherence are not intelligible; they seem to be disconnected parts that don't add up to a whole. If you write an incoherent essay, it will be so disorganized that no one will be able to figure out what you're trying to say. Insane people may mutter incoherently; you can't understand what they're saying.
