what does coherent really mean? i read up on it and i sorta want to get more in depth with it so if anyone can help that would be great. but first off what do they mean by using repetition of key words ,synonyms , pronouns,transitions,and sentence patterns

As I understand, coherence refers to consistency of style in a sequence of sentences in a paragraph or essay.. But you can have incoherence in a single sentence. For example, in this sentence both second person and third person pronouns are used to refer to one person, and in the next sentence, the person shifts again to first person plural.
In order for 2 sentences to be coherent do they have to be closely related to what subject you're talking about?
No, not necessarily. However, a good essay, newspaper article academic thesis or story always has a theme, and the sentences are organized into paragraphs which develop the story line or argue the point that the writer is trying to make.
@alpheccastars ok what about jus writing sentences for example i wrote: Me and my brother like to play video games. so if i wanted to write another sentence that follows the first sentence it has to be about video games?
