Hi~ In the following context, can I understand the words "cognitive definitions" as same thing as "concepts"?
And as for "actual concepts", does that mean "the concepts that is used in our real life"?
Any comments are welcomed. Thanks~
Starting in the early 1970s, cognitive psychologists and linguists began to question the traditional understanding of language—a process where concepts are attached to words thereby giving the words meaning. The new movement proposed that the meaning of language was not a process by which we translate words into actual concepts. Rather, the meaning of language is a process in which cognitive definitions are given depth of understanding through subconscious and unconscious meaning provided through the human body. This movement took on the name embodiment. Proponents believed meaning is not distilled away from our
bodily experiences but is instead intricately related.
