I was wondering if it is technically correct to use "cognate" as a verb in sentences such as, " Linguists have cognated many Latin words with Greek words," since I do not see a transitive form of "cognate" in the AHD. However, if I'm not mistaken, I've seen it used this way in linguisitcs. Thanks
