Coffee - uncountable

Hello,

why is coffee uncountable in the following sentence?

If you are using coffee in your chocolate recipe, always use strong fresh coffee.

Is it correct to say/write: Yesterday I managed to buy a can of a strong coffee. In other words can coffee be used to mean a particular type of coffee? Clearly, wine can be used that way (I drank a delicious red wine is correct).

Yes indeed, although your specific sentence is not so natural; I think most would say 'a can of strong coffee'.
