A ginger beer means that you are homosexual! A ginger beer - queer. The word COCKNEY comes from the French dock workers that worked in the East End.

A Cockney is someone born within the sound of the Bow Bells.

"within the sound of the bow bells means that you are in the inner city of London? I picked up that word during my stay in London. Can I say:

My dad is within the sound of the Bow Bells?

I like the London accent.

You wouldn't say "My dad is within the sound of the Bow Bells" it isn't natural. My Dad is in earshot of the Bow Bells.

Yes its in London City (the square mile). The Bells are in a Church, Mary le Bow.
