Co-editor

If a post is unique, after the verb be, THE is omissible:

-He is (the) president of the US. (no difference in meaning)

For

-He is (no THE) also co-editor with John of The Oxford Anthology.

Does it necessarily mean, when THE is not present, that he and John are the only editors, he being the sole co-editor?

Thank you.
