Clove tea

Hi

Does the description below make sense to you:

Clove tea

To make your own strong decoction of clove tea, boil 3 ounces of the chopped root in a pint of water for one half hour. Sieve away the root, and you will have a medicinal-strength brew.

1. First the autor gives a heading "clove tea" and then talks about preparing a decoction. Can you make a decoction from a clove tea? I think it should be a clove decoction and it says "decoction of clove tea".

2. Then it says to boil the chopped root in a pint of water and then sieve away the root and you have a decoction. What about the clove tea? Do you put this chopped root into a clove tea and boil it.

Newguest Does the description above make sense to you? The end product of the recipe is a decoction of clove tea. I assume that you cannot drink this, (perhaps you can take a small spoonful for medicinal purposes), but you have to dilute it to make the final drink (clove tea).

Hi. Thanks for the answer.

Could you try and write the original description from my 1st post in your own words. Because it is still not clear to me.

You boil the root in a pint of water. You then sieve it away. You're left with the water from which you sieved away the root. Where's the clove tea?

The product is a decoction.

Add some water to the decoction, and you will have your tea. The decoction is the concentrated form of the tea.

You are right. There is some confusion here. One does the tea from leaves, not from roots.
